Red Tailed Black Cockatoos have long been a favourite subject - even back at Art School! We come across them from time to time on field trips to the outback - so graceful in flight - often in large flocks. In this piece I have emphasised the beautiful shape that is created when a cockie tucks its beak into its wing. I have combined the bird with one of my favourite gums - Eucalyptus macrocarpa - the largest and most spectacular flower of all the eucalypts - found in very tough country
